Ranbir Kapoor, a Bollywood actor, has declined to appear on Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan 7! Yes, you read that right. The Brahmastra actor believes that his statement will have long-term effects. In a recent interview with Film Companion, filmmaker Karan Johar and the host of the celebrity talk show said the same. RK’s refusal to join the show is due to his belief that the effects of his comments will linger a long time, according to Karan.
The filmmaker discussed the difficulties he has in securing talent for the show, as well as how some of his close friends are hesitant to talk on it. KJo also mentioned that celebrities are typically concerned about how their remarks are viewed and received, and that the consequences can be severe.
Speaking about Ranbir Kapoor, Karan said, “I am not coming on your show. He is like I have to pay the price for this for too long. Why should I do this to myself. He said, ‘I love you and I’ll meet you at your house and talk to you. You give me coffee at home. But please I am not coming for the show.’”
The Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani star also told the filmmaker that “Karan you can build public perception based on the performance on that couch.”
As people have become more cautious about what they say on the sofa, Karan agrees that the entire concept of candour and candidness is shifting. “Everyone is so like, ‘will you ask me about this’, ‘will you not ask me about this.’ Can you cut that out? I mean what happened to candour and I mean what happened to good old repartee and casual interview?” he maintained. He went on to add, “I mean I have got cricketers into trouble and I don’t even have anything to do with them yet I have even managed to do that.”
