Koffee With Karan has added another milestone to its long pop culture run. Ormax StreamView’s latest weekly data shows Season 9 has entered India’s Top 10 most-watched streaming titles for the week, a rare feat for an English-language show in a market overwhelmingly led by Hindi and regional content. It is also the first Indian English-language title to make that cut in 2026.
A Rare English-Language Breakthrough
The achievement stands out because Ormax StreamView tracks weekly streaming consumption across formats in India, including originals, films, non-fiction, sports and news. Its weekly rankings offer one of the clearest snapshots of what audiences are actually watching across platforms, making a Top 10 entry especially significant in a crowded market.
Only six English-language titles have featured in India’s weekly Top 10 most-watched streaming content for at least one week in 2026, and Koffee With Karan Season 9 is now part of that group. What gives this entry added weight is that it comes from a homegrown chat show franchise, a category that rarely cuts through on the same chart as major fiction titles and large-scale streaming launches.
The Show’s Strong Start On Jiohotstar
That Top 10 entry follows a high-visibility launch for the new season. Koffee With Karan Season 9 premiered on JioHotstar on October 14, 2026, with Salman Khan opening the season and Karisma Kapoor making a surprise appearance in the launch episode. The show streams on The Peacock Hub on JioHotstar, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday at 7 pm.
JioStar had flagged the scale of the opening response soon after the premiere. In an official statement, Alok Jain, Head, Hindi & English Entertainment Business (Streaming, TV & Studios), JioStar, said, “Koffee with Karan is a powerful example of what a homegrown IP can achieve when it stays true to its voice.” He added that the show was “Built in India with an unmistakably Indian sensibility,” and said its performance reinforced faith in iconic Indian franchises travelling across markets.
Karan Johar also reflected on the response in his own words. “Koffee with Karan has always been about nostalgia for me,” he said, before adding that seeing the show hit No. 1 in multiple markets made “this last chapter even more special.”
Koffee With Karan And Its Long-Running Legacy
Koffee With Karan first launched in 2004 and remains one of India’s most recognisable celebrity chat franchises. After its early television run on Star World, the show shifted to streaming in 2022, with later seasons debuting as platform originals. Season 9 has also been positioned as the show’s final season.
That makes the current Ormax StreamView milestone especially notable for a format that has stayed culturally relevant across television and streaming eras. More than two decades after it began, Koffee With Karan has once again found a place at the centre of India’s weekly streaming conversation.
