Kriti Sanon is heading into darker territory with her next Maddock Films project, an out-and-out horror film that marks a sharp genre shift for both the actor and the banner. While Maddock has built a strong identity in the supernatural space with horror-comedy titles, this film is being positioned as a straight horror story, with Sanon leading from the front.
That makes the development especially notable. For Sanon, it opens up a genre she has not headlined in its pure form before. For Maddock, it signals an expansion beyond the comic-supernatural blend that has defined much of its recent genre success.
Kriti Sanon Steps Into Straight Horror
The untitled film is being mounted on a large scale, though the makers are yet to reveal its director, cast or release timeline. What has emerged so far is that the project is designed as a full-scale horror film and not an extension of Maddock’s existing horror-comedy world.
A source close to the development said, “After receiving praise for her performances in Cocktail 2 and Tere Ishk Mein, Kriti Sanon has finally locked her next project. She’s always been keen to explore different genres, and this time, she’s stepping into the world of pure horror with a large-scale film produced by Maddock which she will be headlining.”
The source further added, “Unlike Maddock’s horror-comedy universe, this film will be an out-and-out horror film, a space the production house is exploring for the first time. The makers are looking to mount it on a grand scale, and while details are currently under wraps, it’s an exciting project to look forward to.”
Her Ninth Film With Maddock
Sanon’s association with Maddock has grown into one of the more consistent actor-banner partnerships in recent Hindi cinema. Her earlier collaborations with the production house include Raabta, Luka Chuppi, Mimi, Hum Do Hamare Do and Bhediya. Mimi remains a major milestone in that journey, winning her the National Film Award for Best Actress.
This latest film pushes that collaboration into a very different space. Instead of romance, comedy or fantasy, Sanon and Maddock are now betting on a darker, more intense horror experience.
Kriti Sanon’s Recent Work
Sanon’s recent run has reflected a clear attempt to balance commercial entertainers with projects that broaden her screen image. In 2024, she appeared in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Crew and Do Patti. The last of these also marked her debut as a producer.
She then starred in Tere Ishk Mein and Cocktail 2, both of which were released in 2026. With this newly locked Maddock film, Sanon now appears set to add another distinct genre turn to a filmography that has become increasingly varied over the last few years.
