Krrish 4 has been one of the most awaited Bollywood franchise sequels of the last decade, with audiences eager to see Hrithik Roshan return to his iconic superhero avatar. The film, earlier announced as a collaboration with Yash Raj Films, also promised a major new chapter for Hrithik personally: the actor is set to wear a dual hat as both lead and director, marking his feature directorial debut.
But just when the buzz around the superhero epic seemed to be building, a key roadblock has reportedly slowed things down.
Krrish 4 budget dispute puts the film on the back burner
According to Bollywood Hungama, the development of Krrish 4 has been pushed into uncertainty due to a budget disagreement between Hrithik Roshan and producer Aditya Chopra. The publication states that Hrithik is aiming for a massive production scale, while Aditya is looking to keep the spending under control.
A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Hrithik Roshan wants to make the film at a huge budget close to Rs. 500 crores, and Aditya Chopra believes that it’s essential to have an upper cap to the film around the Rs. 350 crore mark. After multiple rounds of discussions, the duo have at the moment put Krrish 4 on the back burner.”
Hrithik Roshan explores new options and a surprise next film
The Bollywood Hungama report adds that Hrithik is now considering multiple paths forward, including revisiting the script with budget realities in mind and exploring other studios that could potentially partner on the project.
Another source quote in the same report reads, “Hrithik is also a practical guy and has taken Aditya Chopra’s feedback positively. He is relooking at certain feedback given by Adi, and at the same time in talks with other studios to fund the film. He is also looking to start another film before completely moving into Krrish 4. He has read multiple scripts and will green-light one very soon.”
As per the same Bollywood Hungama scoop, Krrish 4 is currently being looked at for a 2027 timeline, making it clear the film will not go on floors this year. The update also notes that Hrithik is expected to begin another acting assignment first, with an announcement anticipated soon.
The status of the Hrithik Roshan and Aditya Chopra collaboration for Krrish 4 remains open for now, but the budget math is clearly the biggest hurdle between the superhero’s comeback and the big screen.
