Dhanush is back and bigger than ever!
Kuberaa, the Telugu-Tamil bilingual directed by Sekhar Kammula, has taken off to a monumental global opening of ₹26 crore, achieving Dhanush‘s biggest opener ever—crushing his previous, Raayan’s, ₹16.50 crore Day 1 box office from last year.
Telugu Version Leads, Tamil Nadu Follows Late
The bulk of the business was earned from the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with ₹10 crore coming from impressive numbers in the Nizam and Andhra belt regions. The Tamil version started slower but gained steady traction throughout the day, tallying ₹4.25 crore—pretty solid numbers considering early uncertainties about its traction.
Karnataka delivered ₹1.75 crore, the rest of India made another ₹0.75 crore, and overseas collected ₹9 crore (USD 1.075 million), with North America taking the lead at $875K.

High Stakes, Possible High Returns?
With production costs estimated at over ₹125 crore, Kuberaa still has a long way to go. However, a good opening on Day 1, positive word of mouth, and strong non-theatrical recoveries could bode well for the film.
Although the dubbed versions of the film in Tamil and Hindi have not done well, Kuberaa has the potential to reverse the fortunes at the pan-India box office.
Relief for the Telugu Film Industry?
The Telugu box office has been dry since Sankranti 2025, and Kuberaa lands like a fresh breath in the box office. While it may not be enough to completely reverse the slump in Telugu cinema, it is at least a step in the right direction, especially if the weekend is as good as Day 1.

Box Office Worldwide Verdict
With a ₹26 crore global opening day, Kuberaa is a personal best for Dhanush and is hopefully enough to spark the fire for the South box office. If Saturday and Sunday jumps go parallel with Day 1 (which is very likely), we could be talking about huge success.
Looking forward to a good weekend ahead—Dhanush did deliver, and now it is over to the audiences to fuel the fire.
