Kunal Kemmu’s Vibe Teaser Leans On Lame Tiger-Pathaan Gags And Dated Comedy In Amazon Mgm Studios Launch

Kunal Kemmu’s VIBE has arrived with its first teaser, but the loudest takeaway is not the action, it is the film’s uneasy comic pitch. Unveiled by Amazon MGM Studios on August 21, the promo throws Kemmu’s latest directorial into the spy spoof zone with accidental heroes, national peril, and a barrage of wisecracks. The problem is that several of those beats, especially the Tiger and Pathaan style gags, already feel worn out, making the teaser play more like a dated send-up than a sharp new-age action comedy.

Film looks more in the space of Vir Das’ Happy Patel Khtarnaak Jasoos which was also directed by the actor and was a box office disaster. One more spy comedy and poor jokes will not work at box office.

The official teaser campaign makes no attempt to hide the tone it is chasing. “Some Heroes Are Born; Some Are Trained… And Some, Kidnapped!” reads the line used to introduce the film, while another promotional line promises “punch aur punchline dono guaranteed with VIBE.” That irreverence is front and center in the footage, though the humor often lands in a familiar register rather than an inventive one.

Teaser Reveals A Spoof Heavy Mission And A September Release

The teaser confirms that VIBE will release in cinemas on September 18, 2026, with Kemmu leading the film alongside Preity G Zinta, Sparsh Shrivastava, and debutant Vanshika Dhir. Dinesh Lal Yadav and Yashpal Sharma feature in pivotal roles. The film is written and directed by Kemmu, and produced by Kunal Kemmu and Chirag Nihalani under Drongo Films, with Amazon MGM Studios backing the title as part of its Indian theatrical slate.

If the teaser has one consistently intriguing note, it is Preity G Zinta’s commanding presence. The official synopsis frames her character as “composed, confident, and seemingly several steps ahead,” adding that she brings “a striking boss lady energy to a woman who is clearly calling the shots.” That dynamic gives the promo some edge, because it suggests VIBE may work better when it leans into character friction rather than throwaway spoof punchlines.

That is also where the teaser’s mixed impression settles. The setup of Hardik and Bugs being dragged into a national crisis has potential, but the promo’s dependence on familiar genre parody makes the film look less mischievous than it wants to be. In a market where action comedies need precision to click, the dated flavor of these jokes may become VIBE’s first real hurdle.

Why Vibe Carries More Pressure After Madgaon Express

That makes VIBE an important film in Kemmu’s current creative run. After Madgaon Express in 2024 earned strong attention for its comic writing and confident direction, expectations around his second outing are naturally sharper. VIBE now arrives as the test of whether that momentum can hold when the canvas gets bigger, the action gets louder, and the humor has to do more than simply nod at familiar blockbuster references. If the teaser is any indication, the film’s success may depend on whether the full feature delivers a fresher comic rhythm than this first glimpse does.
