La Trobe University, located in Australia’s Melbourne, has decided to reintroduce Shah Rukh Khan scholarship which began in 2019. In collaboration with Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, it strives to provide opportunities for an enthusiastic female researcher from India that could change one’s life by making a significant contribution across the globe.

It started its registration process on August 18 which will end on September 23. When it comes to eligibility of a female candidate, she has to be an Indian citizen and needs a master’s degree in research within the last 10 years. Once selected, she gets awarded a four-year La Trobe University Full-Fee Research Scholarship.

The renowned actor Shah Rukh Khan visited the university at a 2019 festival when the first scholarship was granted. Following that, Gopika Kottantharayil Bhasi from Kerala’s Thrissur received the maiden scholarship.

The scholarship’s popularity is such that it had come across more than 800 applications. “We all know SRK has a big heart and he has proved it yet again. The scholarship is a life-changing opportunity for a female researcher from India. India is filled with talent and spark and all it takes is to ignite that spark. SRK’s association with IFFM goes back a long time, but now, since it’s for a cause, it makes it even more special. La Trobe University is one of the leading universities in Australia and getting a chance to study at this university has been on the wishlist of many students,” News Agency ANI quoted Mitu Bhowmick Lange, director of the festival as saying.
