Shishir Chaturvedi, the national spokesperson of the Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha, has filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the Hazratganj police against the creators and actors of the movie Adipurush. According to Chaturvedi’s complaint, the film is a conscious effort to offend the religious sentiments of Hindus through the distortion of Hindu deities’ visuals and the use of offensive dialogues and costumes.
According to Shishir Chaturvedi, the makers of the movie Adipurush lacked the bravery to produce a film centered around religious leaders from other faiths. Chaturvedi claimed that they specifically targeted Hindu figures, implying that they avoided tackling similar subjects in relation to leaders of different religions.
In response to the criticism surrounding the movie Adipurush, director Om Raut finally addressed the issue in an interview with Republic TV. He emphasized the significance of the film’s reception at the box office, expressing his satisfaction with the unprecedented response it had received on its first day globally.
When asked about the portrayal of the epic Ramayana in the movie, Raut acknowledged the complexity and depth of the story. He humbly admitted that fully grasping the entirety of Ramayana is a daunting task, claiming that even he only possesses a limited understanding of it.
However, he asserted that he has endeavored to capture and depict the essence of the Ramayana to the best of his ability on the screen, considering it as a humble contribution akin to that of a squirrel’s in the grand scheme of things.
Union Minister Renuka Singh Demands Ban On Adipurush In Chhattisgarh
Union Minister Renuka Singh has demanded a ban on the film Adipurush in Chhattisgarh. Adipurush is a 2023 Indian mythological action film based on the Hindu epic Ramayana. The film was theatrically released on 16 June 2023 in Hindi and Telugu, along with dubbed versions in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Singh has expressed hope that Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will issue an order to ban the movie in the maternal home of Lord Shri Ram.
However, it is unclear whether the Chief Minister will take any action in response to Singh’s request. It is worth noting that Adipurush has received mixed reviews from critics. Some have criticized the screenplay, visuals, and dialogues, while others have praised.
