Lisa Mishra Confirms Call Me Bae Season 2 Shoots This Year, Hints At The Royals Sequel: “We’re All Begging To Be Back On Set!”

From Netflix screens to global music stages, Lisa Mishra is fast becoming a powerhouse in India’s new-age entertainment. With Call Me Bae 2 confirmed and The Royals buzz rising, her multi-hyphenate journey is just getting started.

After making a splash as a singer and actor with her role in Call Me Bae, Lisa Mishra is back in the spotlight with her role as Nikki in the recently released Netflix series The Royals, which dropped on May 9 and quickly became a people’s talk for its lavishness, a star-studded cast, and the jaw-dropping ending that left viewers in shock.

Most recently, Lisa Mishra finally opened up about the potential for The Royals Season 2 and confirmed that Call Me Bae Season 2 is happening!

“We are going to start filming this year for Call Me Bae Season 2. Everyone is super excited to get back on the set. We all became friends. Our director, Collin D’Cunha, did a great job as he left us an environment where everyone was an equal,” Lisa gushed.

Everyone can happily exhale, as we know that the fashionable and feisty world of Call Me Bae, featuring Ananya Panday and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, is returning to our screens. Season one was a casual streaming success with its combination of fashion, flair and fun—so now with the anticipation for Season 2, it just got real.

Lisa even teased that she may be able to move with a musical take in the next season of The Royals, should it get the green light, because she likes to bring her whole identity as a musician and actor to her characters—so it will be great to see how she creates a performance as a pure actor.

Both The Royals and Call Me Bae may be shiny and happy, and Lisa is willing to try some more gritty or darker stuff.

As for The Royals, which is left with a juicy ending, Lisa is holding out hope.

Call Me Bae’s Season 2 was announced within a week of Season 1’s release. I hope the same repeats with The Royals. If people keep showering us with love, then the producers will make the next season and Netflix will fund it,” she said, adding, “Season 1 ends with a lot of unanswered questions.”

Lisa also hinted that if The Royals gets renewed for Season 2, she might have an opportunity as a musician to contribute, while contemplating how she has benefitted from being a dual artist, as a musician and actor.

Even though both features, The Royals and Call Me Bae, offer a light, glossy premise, Lisa is excited to explore being grittier and darker.

“Although all my favourite films are very dark and gritty, the world needs more content like this right now. Maybe, a few years down the line, you can expect something more serious from my side,” she added candidly.

And that’s not all. Lisa Mishra also just performed with Ed Sheeran at his concert in Delhi, which is yet another significant milestone in her already multi-hyphenate career.

“The last 2 years of my life have been crazy. Call Me Bae and my album released last year. Then I opened for Ed Sheeran and recently, The Royals released. It’s been an incredible and deeply humbling journey.”
