Malayalam cinema continues its golden run in 2025 with another massive blockbuster. The latest release, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, is proving to be unstoppable at the box office. Box Office Collection Update
The box office performance of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has been exceptional from day one. According to reports from Sacnilk, the film has collected Rs 72.10 crore in India alone. The strong word-of-mouth and excellent audience turnout for Malayalam and other language versions have ensured that the film continues to dominate theaters.
The worldwide collection standing at Rs 150 crore after just ten days shows the immense popularity of the film both in India and overseas. The strong performance indicates that Lokah will likely continue its dream run for several more weeks.
Aiming For The Number One Spot
With its current momentum, Lokah is now in a position to challenge the top two highest-grossing Malayalam films of the year. Currently, the top spots are held by Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan (Rs 268 crore) and Thudarum (Rs 235 crore).
Given that Lokah shows no signs of slowing down, trade experts believe it has a serious chance to dethrone both films and become the biggest Malayalam grosser of 2025. The film’s success as the first major female-led superhero film from the industry adds to its significance.
A New Franchise In The Making
Directed by Dominic Arun, Lokah tells the story of Chandra, a woman with supernatural powers, and her connection to ancient myths. The film is produced by actor Dulquer Salmaan, and features a strong cast including Naslen, along with cameos from Dulquer Salmaan himself, Tovino Thomas, Soubin Shahir, and Sunny Wayne.
This film is planned as the first installment of a larger five-part franchise. Reports suggest that actor Tovino Thomas is expected to lead the second part, setting up an exciting cinematic universe for fans to look forward to.
