Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War Back on Track: Italy Schedule to Roll Out in December With Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal

Bollywood’s most awaited trio of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, are reuniting on a set of global ambition. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film Love & War has quietly revived its international shoot schedule with the grand climax now confirmed to be filmed in Italy this December. Earlier speculation had suggested an outright cancellation of the overseas leg, but fresh industry sources clarify that the production is back in motion.

Italy schedule of Love & War

From the outset, the Bhansali-led saga has been pitched as an opulent cinematic spectacle. According to sources, the film had originally planned a 45-day shoot in Italy but faced logistical hurdles leading to a rethink.  In response the team recreated a slice of 1970s Italy on a Mumbai set near Goregaon to stay on schedule.  However, the recent confirmation that the final “big finish” will indeed be shot in Italy signals that Bhansali remains committed to delivering the scale and visual grandeur he is known for.

According to industry sources as per Bollywood Hungama, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali recreated 1970s Italy right here in Mumbai for Love & War. Around ten days of shoot were completed before Diwali, and the final 20-day schedule, featuring the film’s grand climax, is expected to take place by December 2025 in Italy.”

The target release for Love & War remains in early 2026, with some reports hinting at an Eid or festive weekend launch.

Given the high-profile cast and the international filming angle, expectations are naturally building for Love & War to be a marquee event at the box office. While details of the plot remain under wraps, rumours point to a sweeping romantic drama with wartime undertones and a high-stakes third-act showdown filmed in Europe.
