Renowned director Luv Ranjan, known for his films with youthful themes and strong family sentiments, recently shared his thoughts on franchises and the possibility of sequels to his earlier films. Ranjan has made a name for himself with his successful films like the Pyaar Ka Punchnama series and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.
During a Pinkvilla interview, Ranjan spoke about the trend of franchises in the film industry and how people tend to quickly judge their success based on the last film’s performance. He emphasized the need for a safety tool and not fearing failures as a filmmaker.
Actor Ranbir Kapoor supported Ranjan’s views, saying that he never followed trends and always focused on entertaining his audience. Kapoor stated that there was nothing wrong with a filmmaker’s approach being based on what kind of films were working, as long as they are entertaining.
When asked about the possibility of a sequel to his earlier films, Ranjan shared that he had not given it a definite thought. He expressed his desire to make a third Pyaar Ka Punchnama film but did not know when it would happen. He added that he also wanted to make a second Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety film but lacked a proper timeline and story.
In another segment, Ranjan was asked if Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and De De Pyaar De were part of the same universe. Ranjan was perplexed and said that he had not thought about it in that way.
Ranjan’s films have found love from audiences, and his intellectual property with Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety has the potential to become a successful franchise. While he has not yet decided on a sequel, his fans are eagerly awaiting his next project.

Directed by Luv Ranjan, romantic-comedy ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar’ stars Luv Ranjan, Shraddha Kapoor. It is set to be released on March 8, 2023. Ranjan and Rahul Mody have written it and produced it by Luv Films and T-Series Films.
