Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films has added a striking release calendar move to its 2026 slate, with two prominent theatrical titles now occupying the same month. For a mainstream Hindi film banner, that is not a routine play. August 2026 will open with Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story and close with Eetha, giving Maddock Films a rare double presence across the month.
The trade note summed up the development as, “AUGUST 2026: DINESH VIJAN TO HAVE TWO RELEASES… Rarely does a producer have two prominent releases in the same month, but #DineshVijan is set to achieve just that in August 2026. 7 Aug: #Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story. 28 Aug: #Eetha [#RakshaBandhan]. The month will begin and close with two prominent releases from #MaddockFilms, underlining yet another eventful chapter for Dinesh Vijan’s banner.”
Maddock Films Plans A Packed August 2026
Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story will arrive in cinemas on August 7, 2026. The film is directed by Avinash Arun and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films. Rajkummar Rao leads the cast as special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, with Wamiqa Gabbi, Sikander Kher and Jaideep Ahlawat also featuring in pivotal roles.
The courtroom inspired biographical drama is built around major legal battles associated with Nikam’s public career. Its premise centres on the pursuit of justice through high profile cases that shaped national memory.
Three weeks later, Maddock Films will bring Eetha to theatres on August 28, 2026, coinciding with the Raksha Bandhan window. The film stars Shraddha Kapoor and is directed by Laxman Utekar, with Randeep Hooda and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub also part of the cast. Produced by Dinesh Vijan, the film is being positioned as a biographical drama on legendary Marathi folk artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar.
The premise of Eetha places Maharashtra’s Tamasha and Lavani traditions at the centre of its big screen canvas. For Shraddha Kapoor, the film marks a move into culturally rooted biographical territory after the massive success of Stree 2.
A Banner Balancing Stars, Stories And Scale
The August 2026 line up reflects Maddock Films’ continued push beyond a single genre identity. In recent years, the studio has become strongly associated with successful horror comedy titles, but its upcoming slate also includes biographical dramas, war stories and franchise films.
What makes this calendar move notable is the contrast between the two August releases. Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story leans into a hard hitting legal drama led by Rajkummar Rao, while Eetha brings Shraddha Kapoor into a performance driven story rooted in folk culture. Together, the two films make August 2026 a major theatrical month for Maddock Films, with the banner beginning and closing the frame on distinctly different cinematic notes.
