Diljit Dosanjh has carved out a niche for himself in Bollywood. Despite being one of the biggest names in Punjabi music and Punjabi film industry, he often gravitates towards Bollywood films. One of his most exciting projects is a biopic on human rights activist, Jaswant Singh Khalra. The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the RSVP banner, Abhishek Chaubey and Honey Trehan. Dosanjh plays the lead role in this film directed by Trehan. However, there is bad news for people waiting for its release as the film has hit a roadblock.
An insider has said that the film has been ready to release for the past six months, but they have been waiting for clearance from the censor board. The production company applied for a censor certificate in December of last year and the copy was sent to the review committee. The makers even did all the paperwork and went through all the required processes from the CBFC. But looking at no hope in sight, they approached the High Court on June 14.
A hearing date of July 4 has been given and Ameet Naik, from the film’s legal team, will be representing the project in court. We can wish that the film gets cleared from the court in no time so that the audiences can enjoy it.

In the 1980s at the peak of militancy in Punjab, Jaswant Singh Khalra was serving as the director of a bank in Amritsar. He had talked about the cases of abduction and cremation of thousands of bodies that were not in records. He alleged that the cops also killed 2000 of their own officers who did not cooperate with these extra-judicial killings. Later on, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) did an investigation and found out that the Punjab Police illegally cremated nearly three thousand people in Tarn Taran, Punjab. He was last seen in September 1995 and six cops were arrested for kidnapping and murdering him.
