Junglee Pictures has acquired the life rights to Jeevajothi Santhakumar in all languages for literary and audiovisual content, and is currently working on a script based on her life and an incident involving a restaurant mogul who was accused of a crime that shocked the nation and resulted in a conviction – P.Rajagopal V. State of Tamil Nadu.
The film will follow the rise of a rags-to-riches businessman and food enthusiast who built the world’s largest south Indian food chain, which now has over 100 locations in 28 countries. Also, a family man who was revered not only by his employees, but also by diners who enjoyed the no-fuss, high-quality South Indian cooking offered in his restaurants in India and across the globe.
It will also look at how his pursuit of the unwilling Jeevajothi – who was less than half his age at the time – led to his being accused of the murder of Jeevajothi’s husband Prince Santhakumar and ultimately convicted of the crime by the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
Jeevajothi Santhakumar shares, “I am overwhelmed and elated by Junglee Pictures’ decision to make a feature film about my legal and emotional battle with this affluent hotelier, a struggle that went on for 18 years. I am confident that seeing this story on the big screen will bring about a drastic change in the status quo of patriarchy.”
Bhavani Iyer, a well-known screenwriter, has been hired by Junglee Pictures to create the script. This is Junglee Pictures’ second collaboration with her, following the smash Raazi.
The makers will soon announce talent on board for this project.
