Mani Ratnam’s PS1 Becomes Highest Grosser In Tamil Nadu With Rs 221.8 Cr And Almost 500 Cr Worldwide . Details Inside!

It has done the business of Rs. 221.80 crores in Tamil Nadu, encouraging close more than Rs. 222 crores, overcoming the previous record by a massive 20% margin.

PS1 (Ponniyin Selvan Part 1), a film directed by Mani Ratnam, an upcoming Indian Tamil-language action film, released on September 30, 2022. It stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Sobhita Dhulipala and others. Kalki Krishnamoorthi has written epic historical fiction. 

The drama-fantasy film will be released in five Indian languages: Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Netizens have shown excitement for its original Tamil version and tickets are getting sold in huge numbers. It is said to be made with a Rs 500 cr budget.

The latest Kollywood news is it continues to run in Tamil Nadu, making a few lakh in addition. It grossed Rs. 327 crores in India and another Rs. 169 crores ($20.70 million) overseas, for a worldwide box office gross of Rs. 496 crores.

It is the second highest-grossing film ever in Tamil Cinema, behind 2.0 which grossed Rs. 508 crores in India and Rs. 665 crores worldwide in 2018. However, if the business from only the Tamil language is taken into account, it is the biggest ever, overcoming not 2.0 but Vikram (Rs 372 crores) by approximately Rs 50 crores.
