Great news for Rani Mukerji fans! The Central Board of Film Certification has passed Mardaani 3 with a U/A 16+ certificate. The film, which was recently preponed by Yash Raj Films, is now set to release on January 30. This also makes Mardaani 3 the longest film in the franchise with a runtime of over two hours.
Film Clears Censor On January 14
The makers of Mardaani 3 successfully completed the censor process on January 14. The CBFC has approved the film with a runtime of 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 36 seconds. The first half runs for 1 hour, 6 minutes, and 30 seconds. The second half is slightly shorter at 1 hour, 4 minutes, and 6 seconds. This makes it the first film in the series to cross the two hour mark.
Longest Film In The Mardaani Series
Mardaani 3 is now officially the longest film of the franchise. The first Mardaani, released in 2014, had a runtime of 113 minutes. Mardaani 2, which arrived in 2019, was the shortest at 103 minutes. With the third installment clocking in at over 130 minutes, fans can expect a longer and more intense cinematic experience this time.
UA 16 Plus Certificate Is A Relief
After the disturbing content shown in the Mardaani 3 trailer, there were concerns in the trade that the film might receive an ‘A’ certificate. However, the U/A 16+ rating is expected to attract more audiences, especially the youth. Interestingly, only the first Mardaani had an ‘A’ rating. In fact, it remains one of the rare Yash Raj Films to receive such a certificate.

The Mardaani series stars Rani Mukerji as the fearless cop Shivani Shivaji Roy. In Mardaani 3, she is joined by Janki Bodiwala and Mallika Prasad. The story follows Shivani in a race against time to rescue several missing girls. The thriller is directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Yash Raj Films.
