Mawra Hocane Silently Removed from Sanam Teri Kasam Posters Amid Political Fallout
Following the rise of political tensions and digital outrage related to the Pahalgam tragedy, Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane has been quietly stripped from the promotional music posters for her romantic comedy hit Sanam Teri Kasam (2016).
Her co-star Harshvardhan Rane is now the only face in the re-edited media, which is circulating across the preeminent Indian music streaming platforms.
Although there has been no “official” communication, the move is being seen as another part of a large silence about Pakistani talent in light of renewed drama between India and Pakistan.
Harshvardhan Rane Doubles Down: “Now They Will Say My PR Did This”
Taking to social media yet again, Harshvardhan Rane, a former critic and writer on any actor commenting negatively about India, raised chosen words for his update. He wrote:
“Now they will say my PR people did it! No, it’s again common sense, I assume, weeding is being exercised.”
Rane’s comments come just days after a war of words with Mawra Hocane, following her labelling of Rane’s nationalistic comments as a “PR stunt”, after he publicly declared that he would not work on Sanam Teri Kasam 2 with her.
Producer Deepak Mukut Disavows Connection, Citing Law
When we reached out to producer Deepak Mukut, he specifically stated that he had not been consulted about the visual change:
“They didn’t consult me, so I don’t know. It is their decision. Whatever the government says, you have to abide to that.”
This development fits within the broader, ongoing informal industry distancing from Pakistani talent amid rising public sentiment.
This Is Not Just Mawra: Mahira Khan Also Censored From Raees Poster
This is not a unique incident. Shah Rukh Khan‘s Raees, which featured Mahira Khan, also had the actress digitally cropped out from its streaming artwork on various platforms.
Since then, she has not worked in India and similarly faced a cold shoulder after the 2016 Uri attack, where tensions between the two nations were once again raised.
Ceasefire Brings No Calm to Cultural Crossfire
Although a ceasefire was made this morning after many days of military escalation following the Pahalgam tragedy, the entertainment industry has not stopped feeling fallout from the impacts.
Harshvardhan Rane‘s adamant refusal to work with actors who he believed were not pro-India resonated with others, even though Mawra Hocane was reportedly still willing to work in Sanam Teri Kasam 2 until their break first began.

BoxOfficeWorldwide Verdict:
In a politically charged environment, art and diplomacy are still navigating a delicate boundary. The quiet deletion of international cross-border talent from film artefacts isn’t just an image issue — it is the real distraction of cultural disassociation due to nationalism.
Now, Sanam Teri Kasam is back in the headlines — not for its poetry, but for its poster. Bollywood is taking things from the past and reimagining them pixel by pixel.
