Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the web series “Heeramandi” features Sonakashi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Huma Qureshi and Manisha Koirala. It marks Bhansali’s OTT debut.
The take is placed in the pre-independence time and will revolve around the love and betrayal of the courtesans of Heeramandi of pre-independence times, which exists in Lahore, Pakistan. The latest bollywood news is that the much-awaited first look from the web series has been revealed featuring Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, AditiRaoHydari , Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Shaikh.

Bhansali stated, “In terms of vision and labour, Heeramandi is the toughest project of my career so far. It is like making eight different films. Every episode is like a full-length feature film. There are no compromises in the filmmaking because of the size of the screen.”

Sanjay Leela Bhansali always been part of controversies throughout hai career. Be it changing narrative in ‘Devdas’ when Chandramukhi meets Paro (it never happened in original novel or any other previous version),when title of ‘Padmavat’ became cause of concern all over or when ‘Bajirao Mastani’ faced heat. He faced harassment on shoot locations by miscreants.
Now ‘Heeramandi’ is based on a locality of Lahore which was famous for its nightlife and courtesans. Netizens from across the border as well as in India objected the choice of subject,some objected choice of over the top clothes and make up.
