Teja Sajja’s superhero film, Mirai, has passed its first Monday test at the Hindi box office with a decent collection. The film added ₹1.20 crore to its total, bringing its four-day earnings to an impressive ₹9.86 crore. With this, the movie is now just shy of the important ₹10 crore milestone.
While the Monday hold is considered decent, the film’s position would have been much stronger if it had matched its opening day numbers. Now, all eyes are on Tuesday, which could see a jump in collections due to a discounted ticket price offer.
The Crucial Monday Test
After a strong opening weekend, Mirai saw the expected drop in collections on its first weekday. The film collected ₹1.20 crore on Monday. According to trade reports, this is a respectable figure, though a collection closer to the Friday number of ₹1.75 crore would have set the film up for a bigger first week. The Tuesday collections will now be key in deciding the film’s box office journey, especially with the special ticket offers in place.
Mirai’s Box Office Journey So Far
The Hindi version of Mirai has shown a positive trend at the box office since its release, which points to good word-of-mouth among the audience. The day-wise collections are as follows:
- Friday: ₹1.75 crore
- Saturday: ₹3.10 crore
- Sunday: ₹3.81 crore
- Monday: ₹1.20 crore
- Total (Hindi version): ₹9.86 crore
Battling Strong Competition
The film’s performance is even more noteworthy considering the tough competition it faced during its opening weekend. It was released alongside the Japanese anime blockbuster, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, which has been doing massive business. Additionally, the high-voltage India vs. Pakistan cricket match on Sunday also drew a large part of the audience. Despite these challenges, Mirai managed to hold its ground and attract a solid audience to the theatres. The road ahead includes another major challenge with the release of Jolly LLB 3 this Friday.
