Mirzapur: The Movie may already be packing theatres, but one of its biggest surprises never made it to the final cut. A second post credit scene was filmed for the crime saga, then deliberately held back by the makers so it could land with greater force in Part 2.
The move adds a fresh layer of intrigue around the film, which marks Mirzapur’s jump from streaming to the big screen. With the franchise known for cliffhangers, betrayals and power shifts, the decision to save a scene rather than use it now signals a longer cinematic plan for the story and a carefully staggered rollout of its biggest reveals.
Why The Extra Scene Was Removed
A second end-credit scene was shot for Mirzapur: The Movie, but the makers chose to reserve it for Part 2. The scene was originally designed to play at the end of the current film and point directly toward the next chapter.
Instead of using that reveal immediately, the team decided the moment would carry more narrative weight in the sequel. The withheld scene remains part of the franchise’s future roadmap, with its character reveal and story turn being kept tightly under wraps for now. That choice suggests the franchise is treating its cinematic future not as a one-film event, but as a continuing narrative designed to build momentum chapter by chapter.
The Ending Fans Did Get
The released film still leaves viewers with a sharp tease. Its existing post credit scene brings Guddu Pandit, Munna Tripathi and Bablu Pandit into the same space, only for a romantic conflict involving Sweety to end with Guddu and Munna pulling guns on each other. It is a playful but loaded setup, and it now reads like only one piece of a broader endgame.
That long-running fan investment is also something Farhan Akhtar acknowledged while explaining why the franchise made the leap to theatres. “The show is a result of fans’ love. They have supported the show from the time it was first released. Amazon took it across the world. Wherever I went, people used to ask me when Mirzapur was coming,” he said. He added, “So it is really the fans that have demanded this movie. We are very happy and grateful to have put it together with the original cast and the amazing new cast.”
By holding back a second stinger, the film turns its current post credit scene into something more strategic than a one-off gag or simple wink to fans. It becomes a deliberate teaser, one that rewards audiences now while also sharpening curiosity around how Part 2 intends to escalate the franchise’s power game.
