Akshay Kumar’s latest film, Khel Khel Mein, directed by Mudassar Aziz, is struggling at the box office despite receiving positive reviews. The comedy marks Akshay’s return to light-hearted roles after a series of action-packed films and biopics.
In this movie, Akshay plays Rishabh, a plastic surgeon dealing with marital issues alongside his wife Vartika, played by Vaani Kapoor.
Mudassar Aziz Talks About Akshay Kumar’s BO Struggles, Draws Similarities With SRK
In a recent chat with The Indian Express, Mudassar Aziz addressed Akshay’s current box office challenges. He expressed confidence that Akshay will navigate this rough patch successfully.
Mudassar remarked, “I am too junior in the film industry to comment on someone as accomplished as Akshay Kumar. He has a 33-year career in entertainment and constantly strives to prove himself. He’s a deep thinker who considers multiple factors, so I’m sure he’s already strategising a comeback. After all, form is temporary, but class is permanent.”
Mudassar drew similarities between Akshay Kumar’s situation and Shah Rukh Khan’s past career lows. He pointed out the tendency to quickly write off successful actors during downturns. Mudassar noted, “He will find his way. It has happened too many times before. It has happened with Shah Rukh Khan sahab for five-seven years. Unfortunately, we live in a society where writing somebody off is very fashionable.”
Khel Khel Mein Director On His Experience Working With Akki
The director also spoke positively about his experience working with Akshay. “For somebody who likes to make comedies and make everyone laugh in the audience, which is my fuel, my experience with him has been exhilarating. We gave so many things to one another during the making of Khel Khel Mein,” Mudassar shared.
Mudassar concluded on a hopeful note, affirming Akshay’s enduring star power. “He will always be Akshay Kumar in my eyes and the eyes of many across India,” he said. He highlighted Akshay’s teamwork and the lively energy he brought to the comedy.
