The death of actor Sidharth Shukla, 40, was reported as an accidental death report by the Oshiwara police late on Thursday. The police believe he died of a heart attack, but after doctors claimed the cause of death was uncertain and submitted samples to the Forensic Science Laboratory for chemical analysis and a histopathology report, the police said that they had launched an investigation.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sangramsinh Nishandar confirmed the development and refused to divulge further details. Another senior police officer said, “After the CA or histopathology reports confirm that he died under natural circumstances, then the investigation will be closed as a natural death.”
Shukla was brought dead on Thursday morning, according to Dr R Sukhdev, the head of the forensic department. The autopsy was performed on Thursday afternoon.
The reason of death, according to the forensic specialist, is still unknown. His viscera, along with other samples, has been submitted to the FSL in Kalina for further investigation.
“Until we get the CA or histopathology reports from the FSL the cause of death will remain inconclusive,” said an official. A senior police officer verified that no internal or exterior injuries were discovered in the body.
Shukla complained of chest pain at his home in Oshiwara, Mumbai, around 9 a.m. on Thursday before collapsing, according to Mumbai police. He was then transferred to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police questioned Shukla’s family, but no one’s statement has been formally recorded.
