Arshad Warsi’s remarks about Prabhas’ performance in Kalki 2898 AD have sparked a significant backlash from the Telugu film industry.
Warsi, during a recent chat on Unfiltered by Samdish, referred to Prabhas as “like a joker” in the film, expressing disappointment with the portrayal and stating, “I want to see a Mad Max. I want to see Mel Gibson over there. Tumne usko kya bana dia yaar. Kyu karte ho aisa? Mujhe nahin samajh mein aata.”

Actor Nani, at a press conference for his latest film Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, dismissed Warsi’s comments as an attempt to gain unnecessary publicity.

Nani remarked, “The person that you’re referring to, this must be the most publicity he has got in his life. You are unnecessarily glorifying an unimportant matter.” His response reflects the sentiment of many who feel that Warsi’s remarks were both disrespectful and exaggerated.

Director Ajay Bhupathi, known for RX100, was among the first to defend Prabhas. Bhupathi praised the actor, stating, “Prabhas is the man who has given everything & will do anything to take Indian cinema to the world audience, a pride of our nation.” He further criticised Warsi, implying that his comments stemmed from jealousy and a desire to remain relevant. Bhupathi added, “There’s a limit & a way to express our opinion… Seems like you’re the one that you’ve said about him.”
Sudheer Babu also weighed in on the controversy, condemning Warsi’s approach. He said, “It’s okay to criticise constructively but it’s never okay to bad-mouth. Never expected the absence of professionalism from Arshad Warsi. Prabhas’ stature is too big for comments coming from small minds.”
