Half A Dozen Nawazuddin Siddiqui Films Failed To Secure Buyers As OTT Charm Fades Out !

Siddiqui discussed how the OTT space has gotten off to a great start, creating new opportunities for both performers and directors.

The introduction of OTT appears to have completely changed how people now consume content. Nawazuddin Siddiqui believes that the future of the digital sector is gloomy, notwithstanding the current OTT boom. The well-known actor believes that the digital world has turned into something that is “kharab” and “cliched.” He has appeared in two OTT films that have received Emmy nominations, Sacred Games and Serious Men.

Actors now look to Nawazuddin Siddiqui as a pioneer when it comes to hopping on the OTT train. He first appeared in the critically acclaimed online series Sacred Games on Netflix back in 2018, and the digital sector has never looked back since. He didn’t have a release in 2021, but in 2022, Tiger Shroff’s Heropanti 2 featured him as the antagonist.

Siddiqui discussed how the OTT space has gotten off to a great start, creating new opportunities for both performers and directors. However, the actor believes that modern OTT entertainment has lost its novelty, noting “There is a lot of content coming out but quality ekdum kharab ho chuki hai”.

Apart from this, according to Bollywood Hungama, “As per the latest developments, OTT platforms have stopped accepting films for direct premieres. They are insisting that producers release their films in cinemas first. For direct-to-digital films, the onus of marketing the film falls on streaming giants. In many cases, they were handed over mediocre products, which didn’t get the desired viewership, leading to losses for OTT platforms as they paid a bomb to buy the films. Hence, the change of policy.”

Its source further said, “The small films have faced the maximum brunt of this new rule. And many films of Nawazuddin Siddiqui have got stuck like Jogira Sara Ra Ra, Noorani Chehra, Adbhut, Sangeen, Bole Chudiyan, Rome Roam Mein, No Land’s Man etc. The OTT giants asked the producers to release the film in cinemas first. But in cinemas, these films won’t get healthy box office returns, considering how the market is right now for small, indie films.”

In an interview,  he was very disappointed by the OTT platform and said, “OTT ko stars chahiye, superhit stars. But who did OTT start with? Actors! It (the medium and its success) was because of them. But today, no one feels the need for actors at all on the medium.”

Bollywood Hungama source revealed that, “Nawazuddin Siddiqui has also worked in Afwaah, co-starring Bhumi Pednekar, and directed by Sudhir Mishra. T-Series has co-produced the film and they’ll be releasing it soon in theatres, maybe this year. The other film to get a confirmed release is Tiku Weds Sheru. Produced by Kangana Ranaut, it is an Amazon Prime original film.”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is presently putting effort into Haddi. He appeared as a lady in the first glimpse, which quickly went viral online. Additionally, he will play a significant part in the biopic of Teejan Bai, a famed folk musician from Chhattisgarh. The film’s producer is Aaliya Siddiqui, the wife of Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
