There were reports that the iconic 2001 political thriller Nayak is set to receive a sequel, with producer Siddharth Anand and director Milan Luthria at the helm. The original film, which starred Anil Kapoor and became a massive hit, has maintained a cult status over the years. Fans of the vigilante drama can now look forward to Nayak 2, an action-packed entertainer that promises to elevate the legacy of the original.
According to report in Pinkvilla yesterday, Siddharth Anand and Milan Luthria joined hands for the sequel to the cult movie. However, producer Deepak Mukut has claimed that all such media reports are baseless and ‘fake.’
Deepak Mukut Busted Rumour About Nayak Sequel
Deepak Mukut is quite surprised to hear about Siddharth Anand producing Nayak 2. Speaking to ETimes exclusively, Deepak shared, Nayak 2 cannot be made without us, as the rights of the film are with us. These reports about Nayak 2 to be directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Siddharth Anand are fake.”
Siddharth Anand and Deepak did discuss working on a movie together and the topic of Nayak 2 came up during the same; however, no concrete action was taken. “We were supposed to do a film with Siddharth Anand about five years ago but that did not happen and definitely Nayak 2 was mentioned but it didn’t happen.”
“We will be making Nayak 2 and with a big actor when the time is right but this news is fake,’ he concluded.’
Siddharth Anand’s Marflix is now gearing up to roll with multiple films including Jewel Thief starring Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat, King fronted by Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan, and Rambo with Tiger Shroff among others. But audience has to wait for Nayak 2.
