Netflix India Original Accused Storms Global Top 10, Lands No 2 Worldwide In Non-English Films

Netflix’s Hindi psychological drama Accused is having the kind of global week that instantly turns a buzzy title into a bona fide conversation starter. In just days of release, the Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta led film has surged into Netflix’s worldwide rankings, putting an Indian original in a rare spotlight across multiple territories at once.

The momentum is not just about curiosity clicks. Viewers across regions have been engaging with the film’s central moral conflict, and the streaming numbers now reflect that rapid spread.

Latest Update: Accused Lands No 2 Globally On Netflix

As of March 2026, Accused secured the No. 2 position on Netflix’s Global Top 10 list for non-English movies for the week, with Netflix recording 7.5 million views for the title in that tracking period. The film also ranked No. 1 in five countries during the same week, underlining how quickly the thriller travelled beyond India after its debut.

Netflix’s weekly Top 10 rankings are published through its official Tudum platform, which reports global view counts and hours viewed for its most watched films and series each week.

Accused And Why The Premise Is Landing Right Now

Directed by Anubhuti Kashyap and produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Somen Mishra and Adar Poonawalla under Dharmatic Entertainment, Accused is positioned as a character driven psychological drama with the pace of a thriller. The film follows Dr Geetika, a celebrated doctor based in London, whose life begins to fracture after she is accused of sexual misconduct. As the scrutiny intensifies, her marriage and sense of self are tested under the weight of public perception and private doubt.

Netflix India has also described the film as a story that probes belief, truth, and the personal consequences of an accusation. In an official statement carried at launch, Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh, Director, Original Films, Netflix India, said, “Accused is a meaningful, emotionally resonant film that explores truth, belief, and the personal consequences of an accusation. Anubhuti Kashyap’s sensitivity and restraint add depth to a powerful subject. With standout performances from Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta, the film embodies the kind of layered, character-driven storytelling Netflix stands behind.”

Accused began streaming on Netflix on February 27, 2026.

She followed it with a role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix series Heeramandi (2024), and now anchors Accused (2026) opposite Konkona. In terms of upcoming work, she has been linked to the Kartik Aaryan led creature comedy Naagzilla: Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand, though casting has not been officially confirmed.
