Netflix India has released the character posters of the upcoming series Heeramandi, directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The series, which is set in the pre-independence era, explores the lives and stories of the courtesans of Lahore.
The character posters introduce the six leading ladies of the series, who play the roles of the queens of Heeramandi. They are Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal. Each poster showcases the distinct personality and charm of the characters, along with a tagline “The Diamond Bazaar”.
The series, which is expected to release later this year, is Bhansali’s first venture into the digital space. He is known for his lavish and epic films such as Devdas, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. Heeramandi promises to be a visual spectacle that will showcase the culture, music and art of the courtesans, as well as their struggles and aspirations.
The series has already generated a lot of buzz and anticipation among the fans of Bhansali and the star cast. Heeramandi is expected to be a landmark series in the Indian OTT space.
