After Akshay Kumar was chastised for endorsing the pan masala brand Vimal, an old video of the actor discussing his thoughts on tobacco usage went viral. This comes on the heels of the actor’s apologies for the endorsement, in which he stated that he has never advocated cigarettes and will never do so.
Taking to Instagram, Akshay issued an apology by writing a note to his fans. “I am sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me. While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi. With all humility, I step back. I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause.”

It all began a few days ago, when Akshay Kumar was named the brand ambassador for a tobacco company and appeared in an advertisement for it. However, following outrage, the actor has stated that he will no longer be involved with the company. Akshay made the announcement in a post on Thursday at midnight.
