The recently unveiled poster of the upcoming Bollywood film Operation Sindoor has sparked quite a buzz on social media — and not for the right reasons. Within hours of its release, netizens took to X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram to troll the artwork, calling it “bizarre,” “cheaply edited,” and “another AI fail.”
The film, reportedly based on a patriotic theme, attempts to blend high-octane action with emotional drama. However, the poster, which features a lead actor holding a gun with a tricolour backdrop and dramatic lighting, drew flak for its questionable design choices. Users pointed out awkward proportions, inconsistent lighting, and what appeared to be poorly placed visual elements — including floating guns, oddly positioned arms, and mismatched shadows.
Insensitive Timing Of Poster Release
The makers of Operation Sindoor, a purportedly patriotic action drama, have come under heavy fire for releasing the film’s poster at a time when the nation is grappling with the emotional and political turmoil of an ongoing war.
The poster, unveiled on social media with dramatic visuals of guns, soldiers, and the tricolour, was seemingly meant to evoke national pride. Instead, it drew widespread criticism for being tone-deaf and opportunistic. Many netizens and public voices slammed the timing as “insensitive,” accusing the filmmakers of exploiting real-life tragedy for publicity.
“This is not the time for cinematic chest-thumping. Real soldiers are out there risking their lives. Releasing a jingoistic poster now feels like a PR gimmick,” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter).
Another comment read, “People are mourning, families are anxious, and you’re promoting a fictional war drama? Shameful.”

The criticism wasn’t just limited to the timing. Several users questioned the ethics of using a conflict-driven narrative as a marketing tool during a period when the nation’s focus should be on unity and support — not cinematic spectacle.
While the makers have yet to release an official statement, the backlash continues to grow, with many urging Bollywood to show greater sensitivity and social responsibility in such volatile times.
About Operation Sindoor
Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films and The Content Engineer have officially announced a new film titled Operation Sindoor, inspired by India’s swift and strategic response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. Nicky and Vicky Bhagnani have previously produced Nikita Roy, a psychological thriller starring Sonakshi Sinha, which is scheduled to release worldwide on May 30.
