Nidhi Dutta Unveils Jp Films Slate With Border 3, General Harbaksh Singh Biopic And Treasure-Hunt Franchise

JP Films has laid out an ambitious new roadmap, with Nidhi Dutta unveiling a five-project slate that brings Border 3 together with a General Harbaksh Singh biopic, a contemporary Air Force drama, a treasure-hunt franchise and a digital series on O.P. Dutta. The announcement marks one of the banner’s biggest creative pushes in recent years and places a clear spotlight on what comes next for the Dutta-led production house.

What makes the lineup especially notable is its range. Instead of leaning only on the large-scale war storytelling associated with the JP Films name, the slate stretches across theatrical features, franchise world-building and streaming long-form, suggesting a sharper and more diversified content strategy built for today’s Hindi entertainment market.

Border 3 Leads A Defining Expansion For Jp Films

At the centre of the slate is Border 3, which is being developed in partnership with Bhushan Kumar. Speaking about the film, Nidhi Dutta said the third instalment “represents our continued commitment to telling stories of bravery and national pride on the biggest possible canvas.”

Another major title announced is a biopic on General Harbaksh Singh, the decorated Army commander who led Indian forces during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 and received the Padma Vibhushan in 1966. Nidhi Dutta said, “The film aims to bring an important chapter of Indian military history to a new generation while telling the story of a man whose courage shaped history.”

That military focus continues with a contemporary Air Force drama set during and after Operation Sindoor. According to Dutta, the film is designed to balance spectacle with emotional depth. “While it delivers scale and action, it is ultimately a deeply human story about duty, family, and sacrifice,” she said.

A Franchise Bet And A Family Chronicle

Among the slate’s most intriguing announcements is a treasure-hunt action adventure conceived as the first chapter in a three-film franchise rooted in Indian history and mythology. Nidhi Dutta said, “We expect it to be among the first projects to move into production. It’s the first time I’ve written something like this and it’s a franchise film, so it will have two more parts.”

The most personal project in the lineup is a long-form digital series on her grandfather, writer and filmmaker O.P. Dutta. Describing its emotional foundation, Dutta said the series would tell a story about “perseverance, passion, family, and an unwavering belief in cinema despite immense challenges, and the journey of my family legacy.”

She also confirmed that timelines are currently being locked, with some of these projects moving into production in the next couple of months. Individual announcements will follow as each title advances.

Why This Slate Feels Like A Power Reset For Jp Films

This is more than a project announcement. With one legacy sequel, one military biopic, one contemporary service drama, one mythology-backed franchise and one digital series tied directly to the Dutta family archive, Nidhi Dutta is positioning JP Films as a banner that wants to compete across formats rather than occupy only one emotional or patriotic lane.

In a Hindi entertainment landscape shaped by franchise ambition, streaming expansion and IP-driven packaging, this five-title lineup gives JP Films a renewed sense of scale and relevance. More importantly, it frames Nidhi Dutta not just as a custodian of a storied banner, but as the executive actively redesigning its future.
