Pan Nalin Pays Tribute To Single Screen Cinema In India’s Official Entry To Oscars ‘Chhello Show’ Trailer. Watch Inside!

Recently, India announced a Gujarati movie named Chhelo Shaw (titled The Last Film Show in English) directed by Pan Nalin, as its official Oscar entry. It was decided by the Film Federation of India’s (FFI).

It showcases the story of a young Gujarati boy and how he develops the feeling for cinema love. Mesmerised by light, its skills to narrate stories and the heroes it births, the boy does not want to do anything but to sit and watch movies everyday. This leads to chaos with his father and the local Cops there. He is labelled a thief with some of his friends but his love for movies can’t be ceased.

The trailer of it is out now as it releases on October 14. “The narrative is impactful, with cinematic moments captured in great details, captivating performances, visual beauty and auditory effects. It showcases the Indian nuances and heritages subtly and truthfully which be an eye opener for the foreign audience.It begins innovatively and ends with a ray of hope,” FFI’s official statement said.

“The 17-member jury unanimously chose the Chhello Show. There were a total of 13 films of different languages including six in Hindi — Brahmastra, ‘The Kashmir Files, Anek, Jhund, Badhaai Do and Rocketry — and one each in Tamil (Iravin Nizhal), Telugu (RRR), Bengali (Aparajito) and Gujarati (Chhello Show) as well as few others,” PTI quoted TP Aggarwal, FFI President as saying.

”I could have never imagined such a day would come and bring light and celebration of light. Chhello Show has been enjoying love from around the world but there was an ache in my heart that how do I make India discover it? Now I can breathe again and believe in cinema that entertains, inspires and enlightens! Thank you FFI, Thank you Jury,” Nalin had said.

The strong contender to it has been RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli. It has been reportedly made with a budget of 550 crores. Its song Naatu Naatu and VFX in it got prominence from moviegoers. The Oscars event will be held on March 12, 2023, in Los Angeles.
