Sunny Deol delivered one of the biggest hits of the year 2001 with Gadar. Co-starring Ameesha Patel, the film follows the story of Tara Singh who falls in love with a Muslim woman during the 1947 India-Pakistan partition. The film was one of the highest grosser of that year. Now, the makers are coming up with its sequel titled Gadar 2, where both Sunny and Ameesha are reprising their roles.
Ahead of the release, the team of Gadar 2 has tied up with digital payment company Paytm to offer one plus one ticket offer. This means that if a user buys a ticket for the film via Paytm, they will get one extra ticket free of cost. This marketing strategy is surely interesting and will attract a lot of people to go for it. It will easily boost the sales of its opening-day tickets.

A Big Opening Is Expected
The buzz around the film is really strong and it is expected to get good numbers on its opening day of the release. According to early estimates from trade experts, Gadar 2 is looking at 16-18 crore net on day one and it can push to 20 cr net. The ultimate litmus test is going to be Monday after the weekend buzz ends. Gadar 2 will pick up if the word of mouth for the film is positive.
However, having another big release on the day (Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2) might hamper the chances of Gadar 2 going beyond its means. Things might change if the content of the film is really strong. But the trailer and looks give the same old 1990s-early 2000s Bollywood vibes where as OMG 2 is a fresh take on an interesting and unexplored subject matter.

This time, Tara Singh goes to Pakistan to bring his son in 1971. The film is scheduled to release theatrically on August 11th. It will clash at the ticket window with Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi’s OMG 2. Both films are highly anticipated and the clash will be interesting to witness.
