Peddi Clears Cbfc With U/A 16+ Certificate, Ram Charan And Janhvi Kapoor Film Gets Dialogue Modifications

Ram Charan’s big screen return is now officially through the censor gate, and Peddi has emerged with its core action intact. The Buchi Babu Sana directorial, one of the most closely tracked Telugu films of 2026, has received a U/A 16+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification ahead of its June 4 release.

Peddi Gets Cbfc Certificate After Audio And Dialogue Changes

The original Telugu version of Peddi was cleared by the CBFC with a U/A 16+ certificate after the makers carried out multiple requested modifications. Several words and phrases, including “Loudesh”, “Bokka”, “Lambdi kodaka”, “M*r Cd”, “Dongamunda kodaka” and “Kalchi padi denguta”, were asked to be muted or changed.

The words “Saruku saman” in the song “Chikiri Chikiri” were also asked to be modified. In the second half, the word “Rajasthan” and a reference to a community were asked to be deleted.

The notable relief for the team is that the film’s action and violent portions remain intact. The only visual related modification involved covering a middle finger shot with CG visuals. After the changes were completed, the makers received the censor certificate on May 22. The certified runtime stands at 189 minutes, making Peddi 3 hours and 9 minutes long.

Ram Charan Opened Up About The Physical Toll Of Peddi

At the trailer launch, Ram Charan had spoken about the demanding shoot and the physicality required for the film. He said, “Last 25-30 days, we were doing kushti and pehelwan shoots. And I asked our director Buchi Babu Sana to get trained artists, but he got real pehelwans. While shooting, I got a cartilage tear, but that’s fine. It’s worth it, and it’s a beautiful memory of Peddi.”

That statement neatly underlines the film’s earthy, sports driven pitch, with Charan playing Peddi Pehelwan in a story set against a rustic Andhra backdrop.

What Peddi Brings To The Big Screen

Peddi is written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana and features Ram Charan alongside Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu and Boman Irani. The film is produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru, with Ishan Saksena as co producer, while A R Rahman has composed the music. Jio Studios will distribute the film in North India, and the film will also release in IMAX.

The film is described as a Telugu sports action drama set in 1980s rural Andhra Pradesh, where a spirited villager uses sport to unite his community and take on a powerful rival. With its extended runtime, large ensemble and Pan India positioning, Peddi is being mounted as a major theatrical event for June 2026.
