Ace photographer Avinash Gowariker, who is the man behind Bollywood’s finest portraits and movie posters, shot the poster for Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ and in a recent chat, he revealed that the poster has a huge mistake that no one pointed out. The movie, which is based on wrestler Mahavir Singh and his daughters, showed Geeta and Babita in both their young and old avatars from the movie on the poster.

In an interview with Midday, the photographer said, “Dangal poster is a very special poster. Actually if you go to look at that poster, you don’t realise that it’s a wrong poster. Because you see, Aamir is with four girls, it’s the same Geeta and Babita young and old. They never are together in a single frame. But the integrity of the shot is such that no one questioned the poster ever.”
Avinash could not stop praising Aamir, who portrayed the role of Mahavir Phogat, and said, “Aamir was sitting in the center and he was so much into his character, unbelievable. Film is about wrestling, action. But when you see the poster, there is nothing.” The photographer suggested Aamir to bring in a little action in the poster. However, Aamir refuted and told him that, “It is about the relationship of the father with his daughters and the part of the film which is young, is as important as part of the film which is old.” Avinash added, “That’s why both the ages are there in the same poster but there is one father.”
‘Dangal’ was released in 2016. Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra played the grown-up Geeta and Babita, and Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar played the younger versions. Film wa emasiaar blockbuster worldwide with 380 cr nett plus India and 31 million USD in overseas.
