Prabhas Brings Back His Vintage Swagger In ‘The Raja Saab’ – Romance, Horror & Mass Vibes Collide In This 2025 Wildcard

From epic battles to eerie romance — Prabhas’ wildest screen reinvention is here, with humour and horror in tow.

Nidhhi Agerwal Confirms It: “You Will See Vintage Prabhas”

For some time, movie buffs have been wondering: Where is the charming, romantic Prabhas? The pre-Baahubali Prabhas, who was all heaving, breathing love with soft eyes and unrestrained enthusiasm?

Well, look no further. With The Raja Saab, the Rebel Star is just not back—it’s throwing him back in swag.

Written and directed by Maruthi, this romantic horror comedy is a romantic trip with wanton coolness and supernatural chaos with vintage Prabhas charm. And according to some of the recent statements from the cast, it’ll be the most significant tonal divergence in the Prabhas-verse we’ve seen to date.

Nidhhi Agerwal Spills the Vintage Beans

Actress Nidhhi Agerwal, who is the lead opposite Prabhas, stated that the audience will see vintage Prabhas and finally get to see the side of Prabhas that they have been missing:

“You will see Prabhas in his vintage form… the same charm we all loved when he did films earlier.”

Agerwal described the experience as “the most fun” she has ever had on set, saying that while it was a horror comedy, the atmosphere was electric and collaborative with uninhibited space to create.

What We Know So Far

While we are still in the dark, rumours suggest The Raja Saab will feature Prabhas in dual avatars, so you don’t just get charm and comedy—you might also get a bit of the supernatural mystery.

Think romance-meets-rituals, but very much South Indian and remixed for massy, multiplex audiences.

The film was originally due for an April 2025 release but now has a November 2025 date owing to the VFX work and timing from the other large-scale releases. A teaser is expected to drop this May, and if inside reports are to be believed, it will feature Prabhas in an avatar we have never seen before – royal, rugged, and a little crazy.

A Cast as Interesting as the Genre Mix

In addition to Prabhas and Nidhhi Agerwal, The Raja Saab also casts Malavika Mohanan, who will make her Telugu debut in the film, and Riddhi Kumar in the other leading roles.

The mix of rising stars and seasoned actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Bobby Deol, and Anupam Kher creates a delicious mismatch—mass and class holding hands.

Maruthi + Prabhas = A Crazy Genre-Bender

Primarily recognised for his humour and emotional dramas, Maruthi brings tonal flexibility to the project. Maruthi’s storytelling style, based on humour and local quirk, might be just the thing Prabhas needs after doing a string of consequences and high-cost epics.

And with The Raja Saab, the team seems to be leaning heavily into fun, flavour, and freaky nostalgia—which is a combination that could revive a forgotten area of mainstream Telugu cinema.

BoxOfficeWorldwide Verdict:

With Prabhas navigating humour, horror, and heart in one film, The Raja Saab may even become the sleeper hit of 2025. A throwback, a gamble, and perhaps, just perhaps, a rebirth of the star’s most cherished form.
