Prahaar: Avinash Arun Says Ritvik Sahore Was An Instant Choice For Aniket Nikam

Sometimes a casting call clicks in a heartbeat, and that is exactly how Ritvik Sahore landed Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam. As the Rajkummar Rao-led courtroom drama heads for its theatrical release on October 16, director Avinash Arun has opened up about how quickly he locked Ritvik for the role of Aniket Nikam, the son of Rao’s Ujjwal Nikam.

Speaking about the decision, Avinash Arun said, “Anmol Ahuja ka suggestion tha, he’s my casting director. And instantly, the character I was looking for, when I heard his name, it was like, YES!” That immediate certainty, he added, came from Ritvik’s screen instinct and emotional sharpness, qualities the director clearly wanted for a role that brings a personal layer to a film rooted in a major legal chapter.

Avinash Arun On Why Ritvik Fit The Part

Avinash went on to praise the actor in glowing terms, saying, “Ritvik ek honest, ek earnest, itna ek sensitive actor hai, and again, very thorough with his craft. I’m extremely happy that I’m blessed with such a great ensemble around. Har ek chhote-chhote character mein mujhe lagta hai ki humne bahut mehnat ki hai. Overall, abhi tak raha hai ki maine career mein bahut achhe-achhe logon ke saath kaam kiya hai, as a DP, as a director also.”

That insight also reveals how Prahaar has been built as an ensemble-driven film, not just a star vehicle. Ritvik’s casting as Aniket suggests the makers wanted a performer who could bring restraint and sincerity to the father-son thread running alongside the courtroom and public-life material.

Prahaar Release And Film Details

Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam is directed by Avinash Arun and stars Rajkummar Rao in the title role. The cast also includes Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, Lalit Prabhakar and Ritvik Sahore. The film has been certified UA 16+ and is scheduled to release in theatres in India on October 16, 2026.

The drama is inspired by the life and work of special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. Its story is positioned around the legal battle that followed the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, while also making space for the man behind the public image through his family relationships, including his bond with son Aniket.

Ritvik Sahore’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Ritvik has steadily built a recognisable OTT presence over the years, especially with Flames, Indori Ishq and Campus Diaries, projects that helped shape his image as a grounded and emotionally accessible performer. More recently, he was seen in Jamnapaar, the 2024 coming-of-age series that added another relatable role to his body of work.

Before that, he had already left an impression as a child actor in films such as Ferrari Ki Sawaari and Dangal. Now, with Prahaar releasing on October 16, 2026, Ritvik steps into a much larger mainstream film canvas, sharing screen space in a story led by Rajkummar Rao and backed by a strong ensemble.
