Prerna Arora and Arjun N. Kapoor’s production company KriArj had issued a statement showing their disappointment with Gothic Entertainment over, reporting pertaining to the dispute.
Earlier a statement has been published on behalf of Prerna Arora, by her Adv. Sunny Punamiya,
“Prerna Arora does not require to surrender on 2nd March 2020 by an order of the Hon’ble Court. Further, in compliance with the order of the Hon’ble High Court Prerna Arora has also deposited a Demand Draft of Rs. 15 Lakh and an unencumbered property valued at Rs. 50-60 Lakh. It will be our submission in the Hon’ble Court that an amount of Rs. 40.88 Crore has undisputedly been paid to Gothic Entertainment above and beyond the amount of Rs. 29.25 Crore, as liable. Thus a surplus payment of Rs. 11 Crore 63 Lakh has been made to Gothic Entertainment P. Ltd. at a staggering interest of 60% p.a. The excess payment has been done only to honor the agreement between the parties.”
A daily quoted Rishabh Saraf as saying, “We are conscious of freedom of speech and expression under the constitution of India but Article 19 of the constitution itself speaks of reasonable restriction of such freedom. If any article crosses or makes a deliberate deceptive reporting, it is well within the constitutional framework to seek an injunction against the particular medium, further rightfully restricting its reporting to the true and correct outcome of judicial proceedings,”
According to a source, Prerna is contemplating seeking an injunction order against the wrong, half-baked articles and for mistaken reporting pertaining to the legal cases the company is mired in.
KriArj clarified in its statement, “Every penny of the principal amount [of Gothic Entertainment]
We are in the process of filing a petition against a specific print media publication in the appropriate •• of law to seek an injunction against them for misleadi & printing a false media report in their publication. KriArj Entertainment has been repaid plus a surplus payment of interest amounting to Rs. 11.63 crore, at a staggering interest of 60% p.a. In addition to this, with a view to ending the dispute between the parties, both KriArj and Gothic have entered into consent terms and amicably agreed for a full and final payment of Rs 3 crores in the Honorable High court.”
A daily quoted her representative as saying, “Nobody bothered to know what the dispute was really about; instead there was only vengeance from a set of people trying to write everything but the truth. The said dispute was on a flat in Bandra, and distribution rights and a lot of entities creating misunderstandings. People have taken advantage of the dispute between Prerna and the said producer and blown it out of proportion. Prerna has a lot of respect for the other party. The matter is sub-judice in the Honourable High Court. We have moved for quashing as all the dues in the matter have been duly paid. Prerna has full faith in the judicial system and truth shall prevail. Prerna Arora is a visionary and her only priority is to work and make her visions come alive, bring-ing out great cinema – Rustom, Pad-man, Toilet Ek Prem Katha, Pari, etc., that received National Awards, great success and acknowledgments because it was with passion, vision and honesty. Prerna hadn’t expected, planned or decided the success of the films; she just gave it her heart and soul. As a single woman, she has shouldered tremendous responsibilities. After 9 months of suffering life and death, she came back with only one purpose – to single-mindedly focus on work and strive to better her career, her and her family’s lives. She believes in working hard in silence, letting her success make all the noise.”
