Filmmaker Priyadarshan and actor Akshay Kumar are reuniting after a long time with a new project titled Bhooth Bangla.
Known for their successful collaborations on hits like Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa, this new project promises to bring their signature blend of comedy and entertainment to the big screen once again.
The film is a horror-comedy that also features a stellar supporting cast including Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani. Priyadarshan, who spoke with Bollywood Hungama, expressed his excitement about working with his favourite actors once more. “At this stage of the project, I can only guarantee the audience a laugh riot,” he said.
The director also mentioned that despite having directed almost a hundred films, he still feels the same thrill and nervousness with each new project.
Bhooth Bangla Will Be A New Phase In Horror Comedy Genre
Bhooth Bangla will explore the comedy-horror genre in a fresh way. Priyadarshan, known for pioneering the genre with Bhool Bhulaiyaa seventeen years ago, is keen on delivering something unique. “It will be a new phase in the horror-comedy space,” he revealed.
The film is inspired by mythology and black magic, drawing elements from Vedas and the Mahabharat. However, Priyadarshan assured that the film will be fun and engaging, aiming to entertain audiences as he has for over four decades.
Priyadarshan Says His Film Has Nothing To Do With Mehmood’s Bhoot Bangla
When asked about the old Bhoot Bangla starring Mehmood, Priyadarshan clarified that his film is entirely different. “My film has nothing to do with that old Bhoot Bangla. I don’t know what that is about,” he said. He emphasised that this new film is an experimental take on the horror-comedy genre.
Priyadarshan also discussed his happiness in staying relevant as an artist. He highlighted how Ektaa R Kapoor’s decision to produce Bhooth Bangla and offer him a substantial remuneration was a significant morale boost.
“It’s not the money that made me happy. It was the thought behind it,” he said, reflecting on the importance of recognition and respect in his long-standing career.
While Bhooth Bangla is still in its early stages, the excitement surrounding the film is high.
