A long time ago Priyanka Chopra Jonas had announced that she will be playing Ma Anand Sheela’s character in her biopic.
Ma Anand Sheela was Bhagwan Rajneesh or Osho’s right hand who were involved in the biggest bioterror attack in Oregon. The duo were quite controversial during those days they were even hailed from India.
However, no official reports have been out yet, according to the buzz the project, helmed by Barry Levinson will be released on Amazon.
Earlier on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show Priyanka talks about the project and also revealed that the title will be ‘Sheela’. The also revealed that the Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson had approached her for the project and she is super excited for it.
Priyanka had earlier said, “I am developing a feature film with Barry Levinson. He did Rain Man and he is an iconic American director. And we are developing it as the character of Sheila, who was this guru (Osho) who originated from India, his right-hand woman and she was just devious and created a whole cult in America and brought people here. He was called Osho. I am developing that next for me to star in and produce in which I think would be really cool.”
After the release of Wild, Wild Country, a docuseries was released on Netflix Ma Anand Sheela became the talk of the town.
