Priyanka Chopra Jonas detailed her rise to fame, which began when she was crowned Miss India World in January 2000 at 17 years old and won the title of Miss World later that year. Where she opened up about her botched surgery altered her nose due to which she was dropped from two out of four movies that she signed on for after “the producers heard rumors that I looked different post-surgery.”
“As if the physical and emotional pain of the original and subsequent corrective surgeries weren’t enough, this was a terrible blow,” She wrote, explaining that these films were supposed to be her first.
“My career, a career based so much on physical appearance, seemed to be over before it had even really started,” the actor confessed.
Her role in the Hindi movie “The Hero: Love Story of a Spy” was also minimized to a supporting part. Then She made her film debut in the fourth project she initially signed on for, a Tamil movie titled “Thamizhan.”
And she revealed that her experience on set was a positive one in which she regained some of her confidence.
Then further she opened up about her first co-star whom she calls a “gifted and gracious actor” and that he inspired her a lot. Vijay was already a huge star at that time and every day, people used to gather at the shooting location to catch his glimpse. And she was amazed that despite working for fifteen hours, Vijay would “greet those who’d waited and take photographs with them for another hour and a half.”
She also added, “Vijay’s humility and generosity with fans made a lasting impression on me.” She then narrates that 14-15 years later during her International Television Series ‘Quantico’ in front New York Public Library. A lot of her fans gathered to see the shoot. Taking an inspiration from Vijay, she revealed that during the lunch break, She interacted and clicked pictures with her fans. “I thought about my very first co-actor ever and the example he’d set,” writes Priyanka Chopra.
