The duo, Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan who last shared screen space in Tanu Weds Manu Returns, are said to reunite for a bilingual psychological thriller after 8 years.
Kangana shared an update yesterday that the production of the film started in Chennai on Saturday. Kangana even shared a picture from the first-day puja on the film sets. But now, Madhavan has set the record straight.
Kangana confirms that the filming has started in Chennai
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Kangana shared a picture and wrote, “Today in Chennai we started filming our new film, a psychological thriller. Other details coming soon. For now need all your support and blessings for this very unusual and exciting script.”
The film will be helmed by the Thalaivii director Vijay. Expressing her excitement about working with Vijay once again, she said, “Dear Vijay sir after the incredible experience of Thalaivii happy to be basking in your glory again I love to be your team and take your commands. Thank you sir.”
The music for the film is composed by the talented GV Prakash Kumar. The film is set to captivate audiences in a bilingual release, Hindi and Tamil.
Rajnikanth attended the Muhurat of Kangana Ranaut starrer
The shooting of the film began on November 18, 2023, with a pooja ceremony attended by none other than superstar Rajinikanth.
Kangana also shared a picture with Rajinikanth and wrote on her Instagram, “Grateful and honoured to receive the blessings of SUPERSTAR RAJINIKANTH as we kickstart our new project with @tridentartsoffl, featuring Kangana Ranaut and Madhavan together again after 8 years! Watch this space for more updates ❤️”
She confirmed that Madhavan is set to join her on the sets soon. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), she wrote, “On our first day of the shoot God of Indian cinema Thalaivar himself thrilled us with a surprise visit on our set. What a lovely day!! Missing Maddy @ActorMadhavan as he joins us soon ❤️ @Tridentartsoffc @rajinikanth @sanjayragh”
R Madhavan clears the air about film with Kangana Ranaut
Madhavan reacted to a potential joint venture with Kangana Ranaut after an eight-year gap in an interview with Zoom. The actor in a shocking revelation clarified that the film is still in its nascent stage and he’ll have more to say at a later stage.
“That project is still in its nascent stage. I will have more to say later. But yes, working with Kangana is a pleasure anytime,” he said.
Why would the actress hurry up the Muhurat and announce the film? We think this is to keep herself alive in media after the debacle of Tejas and Dhaakad.
Earlier this year on completing 8 years of Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Madhavan was asked if he was “intimidated” by his co-star Kangana Ranaut, who had a double role in the sequel, Madhavan gave a classic reply. “No, I was not intimidated. Why should I be? She was my co-star in Tanu Weds Manu and its (a) sequel, and a wonderful, supportive and genial co-star.”
R Madhavan, who is currently basking in the success of his digital debut The Railway Men, said, “The year has been very kind. God is great. My career is going great guns, if I may say so myself. This week I returned to the OTT platform with a Yash Raj production(The Railway Men). This is Yash Raj’s first foray into the digital platform. I am proud to be a part of a series that is about a crucial slice of recent history.”
