In 2011, Aanand L Rai, Kangana Ranaut, and R Madhavan collaborated for the first time on Tanu Weds Manu, which turned out to be a surprise success. The trio came together again four years later for the sequel, which went on to become a huge hit. Since then, there has been continuous talk about Tanu Weds Manu 3.
However, in a recent interview with SCREEN, R Madhavan revealed that he hasn’t been presented with any scripts and suggested that he could have been replaced in the upcoming film.
Earlier reports suggested that Tanu Weds Manu 3 would see Kangana Ranaut in a triple role. When asked to confirm this, Madhavan replied, “As much as I would like to talk about it, I really have no idea. It has just been on Instagram.”
He added, “The media and people are asking me these questions. Neither Anand nor anybody else has talked to me about part three. I have no clue and I don’t know what the script is. Maybe I am not there in it. Maybe they have replaced me. I haven’t got the faintest idea.”
Meanwhile, Pinkvilla reported last year that Tanu Weds Manu 3 will continue the story from where the previous films ended. “It’s a sequel in the true sense, and the creators have found a story that naturally lends itself to completing the trilogy. Like the first two films, the third will be a blend of humour, romance, and drama, remaining faithful to the original world. The basic concept is locked, and the goal is to begin shooting in the second half of 2025,” a source close to the project revealed.
The source also shared that Kangana Ranaut will take on a triple role, while R Madhavan will reprise his single character. “Kangana is thrilled to take on her first triple role and is looking forward to a full narration from Aanand L Rai. This will be an exciting challenge, allowing her to explore new dimensions as a performer,” the insider added. For those unaware, Kangana portrayed a double role in Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
