Ram Charan’s Peddi promotions have unexpectedly turned into a full-blown social media carnival after one slip at the film’s Bhopal event sent fans, meme pages and cricket lovers into overdrive. The Telugu superstar, who was participating in a light-hearted interaction around Indian sports icons, mistakenly linked Jasprit Bumrah with football, and the internet wasted no time in turning the moment into a meme fest.
Ram Charan’S Viral Bumrah Mix-Up
The moment unfolded during a song launch event for Peddi, where Ram Charan was asked to describe famous Indian cricketers. He called Sachin Tendulkar’s career a “Long legendary run,” described MS Dhoni as “calm and cool,” and said Rohit Sharma is “He’s everybody’s man.” For Virat Kohli, he simply said, “Fire.”
The viral turn came when Jasprit Bumrah’s name was mentioned. Ram Charan said, “Jasprit Bumrah ji, I am your biggest fan. I love football and aap football ko itne aage badha rahe ho, love your sir.”
The clip spread rapidly across X and Instagram, with users poking fun at the accidental cricket-football crossover. One user wrote, “Jasprit Bumrah’s Instagram story for Ram Charan after he mixed up his name with Sunil Chhetri at an event yesterday.” Another posted, “Season so bad he made jasprit Bumrah a footballer.” A third comment read, “Bhai apka knowledge to Kamal ka hai bhai. Actor Ram apke Charan kaha hain Even Jasprit Bumrah doesn’t know this about himself.”
Ram Charan Apologises On X
As the memes gathered pace, Ram Charan addressed the slip on X and apologised to the Indian fast bowler. The actor wrote, “Uff… I’m genuinely so forgetful with names sometimes. Apologies to @Jaspritbumrah93 Ji for the mix-up – it was a genuine human error in the middle of all the excitement and the crowd. I truly respect you and I am a huge fan of your game. You make every Indian feel proud when you consistently put batsmen on back foot.”
The apology softened the tone around the incident, but the online chatter has also kept Peddi in the spotlight. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the sports drama stars Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, and is scheduled to release theatrically on June 4, 2026.
