The world of Ramayana is moving beyond the big screen well before its theatrical debut. In a sweeping cultural push, the team behind Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious two-part epic has begun a nationwide school activation campaign from July 9, aiming to introduce children to the story’s values and emotional legacy through direct, hands-on engagement.
Designed as a large-scale student outreach programme, the initiative spans more than 400 schools across 18 cities and is expected to reach over 5 lakh students. The campaign is built around drawing and creative expression activities, quiz competitions, and interactive discussions intended to encourage children to explore the epic with their families as well.
Framed around the thought, “Hamara Satya. Hamara Itihaas.”, the campaign is clearly positioned as more than a promotional stopgap. It is being presented as an early cultural touchpoint for younger audiences, months ahead of the film’s first release window.
Makers Explain The Thought Behind The Campaign
Speaking about the school activation campaign, the makers of Ramayana said, “Ramayana has lived on for generations through stories, values and shared memory. With this school outreach initiative, our endeavour is to take that legacy to young minds in an engaging and meaningful way. As we build towards bringing Ramayana to the big screen, we wanted children to experience the epic not just as mythology they have heard of, but as a story of courage, duty, love and righteousness that continues to inspire even today.”
That statement neatly sums up the larger intent behind the exercise. Rather than limiting the film’s build-up to conventional marketing, the team appears to be leaning into the epic’s long-standing place in India’s cultural imagination and translating that into participatory experiences for students.
The outreach also arrives at a time when anticipation around Ramayana remains high because of its scale, casting and global positioning. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, with Sunny Deol playing Hanuman and Ravi Dubey appearing as Lakshman.
Ramayana On The Big Screen
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is being produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. It is mounted as a two-part theatrical event and will release worldwide in IMAX. Part 1 is scheduled for Diwali 2026, while Part 2 is scheduled for Diwali 2027.
The film is envisioned as a large-format mythological spectacle that retells the clash between Ram and Ravana through scale-driven storytelling and visual effects. With the school campaign now underway, the makers are clearly beginning the long road to release by building familiarity and emotional recall among younger viewers.
