Just as Ramayana Part 1 was preparing for a high-visibility Navratri promotional moment in Maharashtra, the spotlight shifted sharply from spectacle to survival. A grand Ramtek event linked to the film’s campaign has been postponed, with drought conditions in the state and the urgency of supporting farmers overtaking what was meant to be one of the film’s biggest public-facing appearances before release.
The development was confirmed by Ramtek MLA Ashish Jaiswal, who shared an official update on Instagram ahead of the October 11, 2026 event. In his caption, Jaiswal wrote, “We would like to inform all of you that the grand interaction program with the entire team of the film ‘Ramayana’, which was to be organised at Ramtek on 11th October 2026, has been postponed due to some unavoidable reasons. Actor Ranbir Kapoor, actress Sai Pallavi and the cast of the film were to participate in this program. The purpose of this program was to highlight the importance of the land of Ramtek, which was sanctified by the touch of the feet of Lord Shri Ramchandra (sic).”
Why The Ramtek Event Was Postponed
Jaiswal made it clear that the decision was shaped by the situation on the ground. In his video statement, he said Maharashtra is facing severe drought conditions and that helping farmers must remain the top priority at this time. He also said the matter had been discussed with the film’s team, who expressed their willingness to support farmers. That framing made the postponement more than a scheduling shift, placing it squarely within a larger humanitarian concern.
The Ramtek gathering had generated attention because it was expected to coincide with the first day of Navratri and bring key faces of Ramayana Part 1 to a location closely tied to the story’s devotional and cultural memory. Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Ravie Dubey were expected to be part of the event, giving the campaign a strong on-ground moment in the middle of the festive season.
Ramayana Part 1 Gears Up For Diwali 2026
Despite the postponement, Ramayana Part 1 remains one of the biggest Hindi film releases lined up for the festive corridor this year. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Ravie Dubey as Laxman.
The mythological epic is the first installment of a planned two-part adaptation of the Ramayana, backed by Prime Focus Studios, Monster Mind Creations and DNEG. The film has been building anticipation around its scale, devotional tone and star-driven cast, with its release positioned in early November 2026.
What Comes Next For The Film’s Campaign
For now, the makers have not announced whether the postponed promotional element will be shifted online or rescheduled as a separate on-ground event. That leaves the campaign at an interesting juncture, with the film still in a crucial pre-release window but one of its most symbolic public events now off the calendar. The next move from the team will likely determine how Ramayana Part 1 balances spectacle, sentiment and visibility as it heads into its final stretch before release.
