Ranbir Kapoor And Yash Starrer Ramayana Part 1 Hit By Trailer Leak, Makers Begin Legal Takedown

A film this tightly guarded is not supposed to spill online before the makers say go. Yet Ramayana Part 1, one of the year’s most closely watched Hindi releases, found itself battling an unwanted spoiler wave after preview footage leaked on social media days before its official trailer launch, forcing the team to act fast and go legal.

The breach followed the film’s Pratham Sankalp presentation in New Delhi on July 18, where select invitees were shown footage from the Nitesh Tiwari directorial. Soon after the event, a phone recorded clip running 1 minute and 28 seconds began circulating online. The leak triggered immediate takedowns as the makers moved to contain unauthorised uploads ahead of the trailer’s worldwide release on July 24, 2026. Announcing the launch date, the makers said, “From Bharat to the world, the Ramayana trailer premieres worldwide on 24th July, 2026.”

Leak Fallout Puts Spotlight On A Closely Guarded Campaign

What makes this episode especially striking is how carefully the film’s rollout has been controlled so far. Ramayana Part 1 has been positioned as a massive event title, and the trailer reveal itself has been treated like a milestone moment rather than a routine marketing drop. That is precisely why even a short leaked excerpt has created such urgency around digital cleanup and source tracing.

The leak also arrives after earlier viral chatter around brief clips allegedly linked to the film, with coverage around those videos suggesting that some circulating material had been altered or AI generated. This time, however, the fallout has centered on footage screened at a real event, making the takedown drive far more serious for the production. The result is a strange collision of sky high anticipation and strict damage control, with the official launch now carrying even more attention than before.

That attention was already building when the makers framed the film’s unveiling in grand terms, saying, “For thousands of years, the Ramayana has inspired generations through its timeless ideals of dharma, maryada, courage and compassion. Now, it begins a new journey. One of Bharat’s greatest civilisational epics, presented to the world, at a scale never attempted before in Indian cinema.”

Inside Ramayana Part 1’S Star Cast, Release Plan And Big Screen Vision

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana Part 1 stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The film is backed by producer Namit Malhotra, with Prime Focus Studios and Monster Mind Creations attached to the ambitious adaptation. The first installment is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 theatrical release, while Ramayana Part 2 is planned for Diwali 2027.

Conceived as a sweeping retelling of the Indian epic, the film is being mounted as a large scale theatrical spectacle with a global promotional push. Its premise draws from one of the most enduring stories in Indian civilisation, with the first film expected to chart the opening movement of Ram’s journey. For now, though, the conversation has shifted from spectacle to security, and the makers will be hoping the official trailer reclaims the moment on their terms.
