Ramayana is heading to one of the biggest fan stages in the world, and the film’s Comic-Con rollout is matching its enormous ambition. Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological epic will unveil its trailer on July 23 at San Diego Comic-Con, with Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari set to front the presentation.
What makes this move especially striking is the placement. The trailer screening is locked for a one-hour panel scheduled from 3:15 pm to 4:15 pm PDT on July 23, which translates to 3:45 am to 4:45 am IST on July 24, and it will unfold in Ballroom 20 at the San Diego Convention Center. With a capacity of nearly 4,800 people, it is the venue’s second-largest panel space, giving Ramayana a prime platform for the kind of crossover push Indian event films rarely get at this scale.
The Big San Diego Comic-Con Reveal
The official event listing confirms that producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari will be joined by “international superstars Ranbir Kapoor (Rama) and Yash (Ravana)”. It also promises that “The panel includes never-before-seen footage, exclusive reveals, live performances, and special giveaways”.
That promise has quickly turned the panel into one of the most closely watched stops in the film’s campaign. Beyond the trailer itself, the Comic-Con presentation is being built as an experience, not just a standard promotional appearance, and that scale fits a project that is clearly aiming for international visibility as much as domestic anticipation.
The trailer launch also follows another major development for the film. A 4-minute-15-second trailer of Ramayana was cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification on July 15 with a U certificate, paving the way for its public debut.
Ramayana’s Two-Part Vision And Global Scale
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana is mounted as a two-part adaptation of the Indian epic. The confirmed cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Yash as Ravana, with the project designed as a large-scale mythological spectacle. The first part is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 theatrical release, while the second part is planned for 2027.
The film draws from one of India’s most enduring epics and is being positioned as a global event title with a strong visual effects-driven scale. The Comic-Con berth only sharpens that intent, placing the film directly in front of a crowd that has historically embraced fantasy franchises, world-building and spectacle.
Ranbir Kapoor’s Recent And Upcoming Work
Kapoor’s appearance at Comic-Con carries extra weight because it arrives during a phase when his theatrical choices are again commanding major attention. His most recent releases, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and Animal, both arrived in 2023, with Animal emerging as one of the defining titles of his recent career run and reinforcing his pull in large-format big-screen cinema.
That momentum now feeds directly into Ramayana, which is his next confirmed theatrical release in 2026 and easily one of the most ambitious films on his slate. He is also attached to Love & War, another major announced project. Taken together, the lineup shows Kapoor leaning firmly into event-scale storytelling, which makes his Comic-Con unveiling for Ramayana feel like a natural next step in that trajectory.
