Vijay Deverakonda did not dodge the noise around Ranabaali. Hours before the trailer of Rahul Sankrityan’s period action drama dropped on Thursday, the actor faced questions in Hyderabad about the trolling that follows him online and responded with unusual bluntness. With Ranabaali now heading into a high-voltage Dussehra box office face-off with Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, Vijay made it clear he has no intention of softening either his personality or his ambition.
Vijay Deverakonda’s Sharp Response To Trolls
When asked about the criticism and mockery he routinely faces on social media, Vijay pushed back forcefully. “Should I stop because someone thinks my dreams and hard work are unnecessary? Should I start acting because someone thinks my honesty comes off as arrogance? Should I step back because someone thinks my self-confidence comes across as pride? If they cannot digest my journey, must I sit at home?”
He followed that up with an even firmer line: “I won’t change; they’re the ones who need to. I wish people concentrated on bettering themselves for their families. I enjoy success stories a lot.”
The comments instantly stood out because they were not framed as a passing complaint. Vijay treated the backlash as something deeply tied to how he is perceived in public, especially when confidence is mistaken for attitude.
Why He Called The Online Attacks Manufactured
Vijay went a step further when the conversation turned to the growing online chatter comparing Ranabaali with Jailer 2, which releases a day earlier on October 15, 2026. Ranabaali is scheduled to arrive in theatres on October 16, 2026, keeping the two big South releases in direct festive competition.
Addressing posts and reels claiming viewers would rather pick Jailer 2 over Ranabaali, Vijay said, “First of all, we can’t even call it hate. Because 90% of it is manufactured. There’s a batch that drops Reels at a time that they’d rather watch Jailer 2 over Ranabaali, despite it being a Telugu film.”
He added, “People can have opinions, but if you see the same opinion everywhere, it’s manufactured. What they must understand is that the attacks they’re paid for today, AI will do tomorrow. No one can stop it. The person paying them will stop.”
Vijay also questioned the purpose of using online spaces to drag others down, saying, “Use social media to promote and better things. What is the point of using it to bring down someone? But that’s the world we live in, what to do?”
Vijay Deverakonda’s Recent And Upcoming Work
Ranabaali, directed by Rahul Sankrityan, reunites Vijay with the filmmaker after Taxiwaala and pairs him with Rashmika Mandanna in a British Raj-era patriotic drama. His most recent release was The Family Star in 2024. Before that, he was seen in Kushi in 2023 and Liger in 2022, a stretch that has kept him in the middle of both commercial scrutiny and fan attention. As of October 8, 2026, Ranabaali stands as his next confirmed theatrical release.
