Now, Nitesh Tiwari is preparing to direct a new Ramayan adaptation. The three-film Ramayan trilogy, which will be produced by Madhu Mantena, will cost a whopping Rs 750 crores. And that’s just the budget estimate.
Both Hrithik and Ranbir, who will play Ravana and Rama, would be paid Rs 75 crores each, according to a source close to the project. “The rest of the budget will go into making the kind of staggering epic that the Ramayan has never been treated to before,” the source inform me.
While Rama and Ravana have been cast, Mantena’s unfathomably big undertaking has yet to find Sita. According to the source, rumours that Kareena Kapoor Khan had been asked to play Sita were untrue. “They were planted by her marketing team. Kareena for all her talent, doesn’t suit the part at all,” says the source.
